Sterling OSB meets the same performance standards as plywood, yet is more cost-effective. Sterling/OSB Panel has excellent moisture tolerance and is much less susceptible to the stress related problems of plywood, such as warping and ply separation. In addition, OSB has exceptional dimensional stability and a uniform structure with no knots or core voids.

Another benefit of using Sterling-type OSB is its strong environmental profile. SterlingOSB uses thinnings and small diameter logs from well-managed forests. This process improves the growth and sustainability of surrounding plants, trees and wildlife.

All of Norbord's raw material is sourced from FSC certified forests in the UK.

SmartPly OSB Waferboard :

Wood is uniquely renewable among building materials. It also has the lowest energy consumption and the most energy efficient thermal insulation properties of any building material. Wood products are also the only building materials with negative net CO2 emissions. This puts SmartPly among the most environmentally efficient building materials on the market.

SmartPly Board is made from sustainable, fast-growing timber: only forest thinnings of new-growth pine and spruce are used, including the tops which are not used to make any other wood-based product. This is one of the main reasons why SmartPly Panel is increasingly being used instead of plywood, which by contrast uses large logs cut from old growth forests. SmartPly OSB is manufactured by compressing precisely engineered strands of wood with exterior resins at high temperature to create an incredibly strong and versatile panel. Each OSB Panel meets the strict code set down by the FSC and comes with 100% assurance that tropical rainforests haven't been felled in the process.
OSB Waferboard is an innovative, environmentally sustainable, timber-based panel for structural and non-structural building applications.

There are two grades of SmartPly Waferboard, OSB2 & OSB3; Each made with a different exterior glue and suitable for many general uses. OSB Oriented Strand Board is an engineered wood panel, designed to be very strong, hard wearing, smooth and defect free. SmartPly Board has no structural defects, such as knot-holes and core voids, and is easy to work with. It cuts easily, will not delaminate, and can be bored, routed and planed with consistent results. Every OSB3 panel carries the CE and BBA markings to meet Building Regulations requirements for structural work.

Panels can be nailed 10mm from the edge without splitting or breaking out - critical to structural applications.
