Machining in Yard - Cutting ( to Rough sizes for Transport )
Machining in Yard - general cutting of sheet materials and timber:
Cross-cutting: We will cross-cut using a standard cross-cut machine fitted with a tungsten-tooth cross-cut blade.
Rip-sawing: We will cut items on a standard bench-saw fitted with a tungsten-tooth rip-saw blade.
We try to cut as accurately as possible, this will probably be ± 3mm rip-sawing or cross-cutting tolerance for timber, and ± 2mm rip-sawing or cross-cutting tolerance for panel-products.
Don't forget there will also be the thickness of the blade to allow for as well - (about 4mm) ;
Any tolerances or accuracy mentioned, are for the timber or panel product size immediately after machining; It cannot take into account any movement of the component if moisture moves into, or out of it, afterwards. Generally swelling will occur with uptake of moisture, and shrinkage with drying - but depending on grain or composition, twisting and surface checking/splitting can also occur.
For a greater accuracy, and for Plas and Veneered Boards we would advise selecting the Machining in Workshop option;
In the Workshop we can use our sawbench with under-score blade to reduce the spelching on the underside of the sheet.
