How to Fit Frelan Hardware Lever Door Handles

Frelan Hardware is one of the UK's leading designers and manufacturers of ironmongery and can boast more than four decades of experience in the field. JAS Timber is a proud supplier of a comprehensive collection of door furniture from the highly-renowned brand.

The selection of Frelan Hardware door furniture available from JAS Timber includes lever door handles, one of the brand's signature products. Here we present a step-by-step guide on how to fit these handles, letting you achieve the most professional results every time.

  • First you need to prepare the installation area. This involves thorough cleaning and drying, as well as making sure there is no debris that could hinder you
  • Use the lock and latch area of the door as a template to mark out fixing holes that exactly correspond to those in the body of your chosen lever door handle
  • Working carefully, drill out the holes you have marked
  • Expose the fixing plates of the door handle by unscrewing the cover rose from each lever
  • Fit the spindle into the reverse side of the fixing rose on one side. As this is carried out, ensure that the split.grooved side of the spindle lines up correctly with the grub screw
  • Using the allen key provided, tighten the grub screw securely into place
  • Check that the lever is orientated correctly and insert the fitted spindle and handle through the latch or lock
  • Take the rose and fit it flat against the face of the door
  • Now move to the opposite side of the door and fit the other lever onto the spindle
  • While holding both of the roses flat to the surface of the door, use the allen key again to tighten the grub screw into the spindle
  • Now take the short bolt and fit it into the barrel. Insert through the fixing rose and the drilled holes
  • Push the long bolt through the fixing rose
  • Screw the bolt into the barrel and make sure it is tightened properly
  • Check to ensure that both grub screws are tightened fully
  • The final step is to replace the two cover roses and screw them tightly into place

The best, most secure fit can be achieved by using this bolt-through method. For latches/locks that do not allow this method to be used, the levers can be fitted directly to the face of the door using the wood screws provided. Maintenance simply involves keeping the levers and roses clean using a soft cloth and non-abrasive polish.
