Standard 9mm MDF Panel:

9mm Standard MDF is a multi-purpose, cost-effective board, designed for use in internal applications such as joinery components, interior furniture fittings, shop-fitting, exhibition-displays and stage design. Standard MDF is suitable for use in internal dry conditions as defined in EN622 Parts 1 & 5, and conforms to EN13986. MDF Boards are suitable for use in Hazard Class 1 of EN335-3

Standard 9mm MDF is a homogeneous wood fibre material, ideally suited to modern machine tooling. MDF can be worked easily with all conventional woodworking machines. It saws cleanly and drills easily. It also shapes and routs exceptionally well, without splintering or chipping. MDF is equally suitable to be worked with most hand tools.

Cut or profiled edges of 9mm MDF Board should first be sanded with 150-240 grit, prior to painting. The recommended coating system for the edges is to seal, prime and topcoat, with de-nibbing between coats to produce a smooth finish. A smooth finish on the face can be achieved with a base-coat and top-coat. Water-based coatings can be used at your own risk; It is important to note that forced drying, or quick-dry systems be used to maintain the the surface quality.

9mm MDF Board retains the light tan colour of the wood fibre from which it is manufactured.

The density of 9mm MDF is approximately 715 Kg per Metre3 . Depending on manufacturer it can vary between 680 and 730Kg per Metre3 , although MDF is defined as a material having a density between 500 and 800Kg per Metre3.
